The rebirth of Foothills will fulfill a long-awaited desire in Fort Collins for a new inspiring place to come together and enjoy today’s Colorado. Foothills will provide a one-of-a-kind shopping, entertainment and community gathering experience featuring Colorado contemporary architecture that honors Fort Collins’ vibrant, outdoor-centric and sustainability-minded community. The mall will draw shoppers from across northern Colorado and southern Wyoming, making way for an economic and cultural renaissance in the heart of Midtown.
The goal of the Foothills redevelopment is to return the mall and surrounding area to its former status as a cultural and economic magnet for the surrounding community and broader northern Colorado region. One of largest planned retail developments in the country, the project will attract new investment, retail spending and jobs that declined dramatically in recent decades. The project also will make the area more liveable for residents with features including new outdoor community gathering spaces, a new and expanded activities center, pedestrian and bike paths connecting Foothills to mass transit and the Mason Street corridor, and other amenities.
Dear Fort Collins Community,
We are excited to be a part of the Fort Collins Community and the revitalization of the Midtown Corridor, which has been a priority for the City and residents for many years.
The goal of the Foothills Mall redevelopment is to make Foothills the premier shopping center for Northern Colorado. This will attract economic investment, create jobs and make the Midtown area more liveable for its residents.
We are working to attract a reenergized mix of retailers that reflect the desires of the community and add amenities that improve the community, such as pedestrian and bike paths connecting Foothills to the Mason Street corridor and new outdoor gathering spaces.
This is a project of great economic significance. It is one of the largest planned retail developments in the country and a rare opportunity to restore Foothills as the cultural and economic magnet it once was.
This is a big deal with a lot of responsibility, and we take it seriously.
Foothills Mall is open for business and will remain open during construction. Many retailers in the mall and surrounding area will close in phases in the coming weeks and months as part of redevelopment plans. We are in discussions with our retail partners to determine which tenants will remain for the planned reintroduction of Foothills during the 2014 holiday season, but the mall will stay open for business through out the redevelopment.
We are excited to invest in and be a part of the Fort Collins community. It’s the Choice City and our best choice for this revitalization project.

Foothills Mall is open for business and will remain open during a planned redevelopment to make Foothills the premier shopping center for northern Colorado. A portion of the mall will close permanently to allow for more outdoor community gathering space, but the rest will remain open throughout redevelopment. Project completion is planned for the 2014 holiday season.
